I have to admit: I've been a fan of Ryan Reynolds since he was on a show way-back-when called Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place. And Deadpool is such a fun, irreverent movie...this makes me like him that much more.
Although...the first thing I thought of was, "Silly, Ryan Reynolds. The Matterhorn is in Disneyland and that is clearly Cinderella's Castle at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World."
Disney Nerd Problems.

"Let's Get Down To Business"
Came across this the other day:
A lot of people in the comments are all, "This never happened!" to which I say...meh. Who cares if it did or didn't? It's still funny.
And, FWIW, I believe it could have happened. Every class, I resist the urge to start class by saying "Let's get down to business..." Once, a few years ago, I said it by accident -- the class (which was a fantastic one, BTW) was being super chatty before class and I needed to get them to focus -- and one girl chimed in, "...to defeat the Huns." Which set off a little bit of a chain reaction and a detour to watch the music video. Because if you can't randomly pull up a Disney song on YouTube and have an impromptu sing-a-long in Decoding Disney, when can you?

Don't Hate On My Disney
Today's LOLZ courtesy of Disney Memes (via Tumblr):
YAAAAAS.
Why does everybody hate on Disney so much?!
(Rhetorical question. I know why. My job is basically studying why.)

LOLZ
For some reason, this really made me laugh tonight.

IDK why, honestly, because it's not *terribly* funny, and I certainly don't condone calling people "ignorant sluts" as a general rule but...
Still laughing now, actually.

Beauty and the Beast Plot Hole
Disney Memes on Facebook is kinda saving me right now -- it (sort of) balances out all the politics on my newsfeed.
Like this:
This has ALWAYS bugged me.
You have to work backwards a bit -- the fact that Lumiere sings "for 10 years, we've been rusting / needing so much more than dusting" and the fact that the last petal will fall on the Prince/Beast's 21st birthday -- but those two pieces of evidence help you realize that the prince was ELEVEN years old when he was cursed.
Yep. The Enchantress cursed an eleven year old boy for not letting a stranger into his house.
Now, I know that fairies aren't exactly known for their good-will (at least in non-Disney lore) and they can be vain and selfish and don't give a flying flip about someone's age and whether they're a child but...still. This IS Disney, and it's always bugged me.
Plus, that portrait of the Beast as a human is virtually identical to the way he looks at the end of the movie which...how do they know? He definitely didn't look like that at eleven!
Oh. And yeah. Gaston is definitely still the villain of the movie, don't get me wrong. He's just not the only one. He's sexist and prejudiced and basically incites a mob to murder so...yeah. Definitely still a villain.

Commercialism. Sigh.
It's funny 'cuz it's true.
In Western countries other than America, this makes sense. (And, from what I remember when I studied abroad, it's especially true in England.)
But we have Thanksgiving -- poor, lost, forgotten, skipped over Thanksgiving -- in America. Although you wouldn't really know it if you turned on the TV or walked into a store. Christmas things are already for sale in Harris Teeter, Target, Lowes, Hallmark -- it hurts my heart a little.
Actually, it hurts my heart a lot.
Although...I do have to admit: the one place I'm okay with a little early Christmas cheer is Starbucks. (Shocker.) Even though Red Cups come out a little early -- I am a big fan of both the Chestnut Praline and the Caramel Brûlée lattes. Ever since they got rid of my Vanilla Macchiato, I've been looking forward to my holiday drinks.

Fantastic Four
This popped up in my newsfeed this morning and had to share. Poor Fantastic Four film adaptations.
I also wonder if this sentiment will hold true after the sequel is released...although, as a general rule, I have much more faith in Pixar sequels than I do in Disney sequels.
